ANN ARBOR, MI – A judge told a man mumbling an apology to the family of a man he shot in 2023 to “say his name.”
Kendall Newbern, 19, was using generic terms like “the victim” when referring to Jason Gregory during a statement given during Newbern’s sentencing hearing, prompting Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Arianne Slay to interrupt and tell Newbern to “say his name” instead.
