Wyandotte County could change the plan on STAR Bonds for Chiefs stadium

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Unified Government of Wyandotte County may change its original plan for the Sales Tax and Revenue or STAR Bond District for the Kansas City Chiefs’ new stadium.

On Thursday, Republican State House Rep. Sean Tarwater told FOX4 that the way things stand right now, Kansas City, Kansas Mayor Christal Watson, or someone she appoints, would not be on the board because the county limited the size of the state’s STAR Bond District when they passed their plan in February.

At that time, the county wanted its increment and the state’s increment districts to be the exact same, the area west of 118th Street, east of 126th Street and north of State Avenue.

“They would have to make that change if the Kansas City (Kansas) mayor wants to be at the table as we’re drawing all this stuff up,” Tarwater said Thursday…
