‘A joyful experience’: S.C. doctor who saved man in cardiac arrest during 5K reunites with patient

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A runner who went into cardiac arrest during a 5K race in April was saved by a doctor who happened to be running just steps ahead of him.

Martin Williamson collapsed around mile 2 of the race and does not remember most of what happened after that. His wife and two children were running as well.

Williamson previously had a heart attack in 2015, and started running as part of a health journey. He told WMBF that on the day of the race, he had no inclination something was wrong…
