Cape Fear Veterans Resilience Project provides resources for those struggling on Memorial Day

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Memorial Day marks a time to honor those who died in military service, but the federal holiday can present challenges for veterans struggling with loss or the effects of their service.

Bill Kawczynski, a Marine Corps veteran with the Cape Fear Veterans Resilience Project, said veterans face grief and loss, while others treat the day as the start of summer.

“Those who have served and lost fellow service members or family members have to figure out a way to deal with the constant grief, a sense of loss, and then you have a holiday where people are having a great time,” Kawczynski said…
