WILL COUNTY, Ill. – A potential tragedy was averted in Will County on Friday afternoon after authorities said a family member thwarted a juvenile’s alleged plan to carry out a shooting at a Joliet elementary school.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were initially dispatched to the 2400 block of Helmar Lane in Plainfield Township around 1 p.m. Friday on a report of a suicidal male subject.
