Man dead after Jeep collides with MBTA commuter train at Braintree rail crossing

A Jeep Cherokee and an MBTA commuter train collided in Braintree, Massachusetts, on Saturday, killing the 58-year-old Jeep driver.

Transit police said the victim, whose name wasn’t immediately released, intentionally drove around the crossing guard at the Grove Street crossing, near Weymouth, as the train was approaching just before 5 p.m.

The guard/safety arm was deployed, and all other safety warnings were activated, according to Transit police, who are investigating the facts and circumstances of what happened along with representatives from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office…
