GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Demonstrators gathered Saturday afternoon at Calder Plaza for an armed march for Da’Quain Johnson, who was shot and killed by a Grand Rapids police officer in February.
The demonstration, which was led by the Revolutionary Black Panther Party, called for justice for Johnson and for Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker to bring forth charges against the officer that shot and killed Johsnon the night of Feb. 18.
Becker elected to not press charges against GRPD Officer Chris Carlson in early April for Johnson’s death, saying the evidence he had showed Carlson’s use of force was justified.
