Chronic Audacity event brings support, connection for people living with chronic illness in Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) — Aiken is set to host a new community event focused on support, awareness, and connection for people living with autoimmune conditions and invisible disabilities.

Chronic Audacity is a free community event designed for people living with autoimmune and chronic illnesses. It combines patient education, resources, and social connection in one place.

Deanna Butler Gayle says the idea grew out of her own experience after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while in college. She says early on, resources were limited and support systems were hard to find, especially for people navigating invisible illnesses. That gap, she says, led her to build community spaces where people could connect and not feel alone…
