The self-driving Waymo car overtaken by floodwaters last month was near the city’s most flood-prone crossing when it was swept off an Interstate 35 frontage road by Salado Creek.
The unoccupied robotaxi drove itself into water covering the roadway and floated off during heavy rains April 20, prompting the California firm to halt its ride-hailing services in San Antonio and later perform a software recall on its entire U.S. fleet of nearly 3,800 vehicles.
Nobody was injured in the incident that’s led to the company’s longest-ever service shutdown. Waymo has resumed testing its autonomous vehicles in the city, but it hasn’t said when it plans to reopen passenger service…
