Police say man tried to board Poudre School District bus at stop Tuesday afternoon

A man was arrested after police say he attempted to get on a Poudre School District bus Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Collins Police Services spokesperson J Gilmore told the Coloradoan the bus was at a scheduled stop on Conifer Street across the street from the Murphy Center for Hope shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday when a man walked over from the Murphy Center and attempted to get on the bus.

Gilmore said the bus driver did not recognize the man as a parent and blocked the door as he attempted to climb the steps onto the bus. At the same time, a security guard from the Murphy Center who saw the man walking over arrived and pulled the man from the steps of the bus, according to Gilmore.

Gilmore said the security guard and the suspect fought briefly, and the guard sustained minor injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

Patrol officers who were in the area on a separate call arrived on scene to assist, and the man was placed under arrest on suspicion of multiple misdemeanors, Gilmore said.
