CommonSpirit reassures communities their hospitals will not close

(COLORADO) — CommonSpirit Health has issued a statement reassuring communities across Colorado that its hospitals are not under threat of closure.

Following the release of a report by non-profit consumer rights advocacy group Public Citizen, CommonSpirit Health is reassuring its patients that their care will not change. The report placed nine hospitals across the state among those most at risk of reducing medical services or potential closure, with three of those being operated by CommonSpirit.

The nine Colorado hospitals identified in the report include:

  • Platte Valley Medical Center (Brighton)
  • UCHealth Grandview Hospital (Colorado Springs)
  • Prowers Medical Center (Lamar)
  • Longmont United Hospital (Longmont)
  • St. Vincent General Hospital (Leadville)
  • St. Elizabeth Hospital (Fort Morgan)
  • Denver Health Medical Center (Denver)
  • North Colorado Medical Center (Greeley)
  • St. Mary-Corwin Hospital (Pueblo)

The report states that hospitals serving low-income and rural communities are especially vulnerable to Medicaid cuts, which reduce critical funding needed to maintain services, retain staff, and keep doors open.
