MIAMI, Florida — A Fort Lauderdale man has been indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after allegedly firing at a police K-9 during a pursuit, according to court records.
Christian Bouie, a 30-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, was charged after law enforcement responded to a residential burglary on April 18, where a firearm had been stolen. Officers, with the help of aviation and K-9 units, found Bouie hiding in a tree. When ordered to come down, Bouie fled, allegedly firing two rounds at a pursuing police K-9, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.
Bouie, who has prior felony convictions including robbery with a firearm, is prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal law. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in federal prison.
