More than 1,000 Florida workers are facing a tense few weeks. A major beverage distributor has warned the state that jobs at four facilities could be affected as part of a planned sale.
The notices do not mean every employee will lose work. But they do show the scale of the disruption now hanging over RNDC operations across Florida.
WARN notices outline the scale of the cuts
Republic National Distributing Company, known as RNDC, filed Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, notices covering 1,046 positions in Florida. The filings were made as the company moves ahead with a planned sale of operations in Florida and other states to Reyes Beverage Group. Under federal law, WARN notices are used to alert workers and state officials about large layoffs or plant closings.
The company said layoffs are scheduled to begin on or within 14 days of June 21 and continue through July 5. That timeline puts many workers in a narrow window of uncertainty. It also gives local officials limited time to prepare for possible job losses in multiple regions…
