Fort Lauderdale police dog shot while on duty recovers after surgery

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Nearly four days after suffering a gunshot wound while on duty with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois continued his recovery.

The police dog named Appie remained under veterinary care on Wednesday afternoon after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone on Tuesday in Broward County.

“He is expected to make a full recovery,” Dr. Sagen Woolery, the emergency medicine vet caring for Appie, told Local 10 News…
