Irony all set for takeoff

A Southwest Airlines flight attendant whose job typically includes reminding passengers not to tamper with aircraft equipment is now accused of doing just that — only this time, on the ground.

A Fort Lauderdale hotel has filed suit against the airline and the employee, alleging the attendant triggered a fire sprinkler that flooded multiple rooms and caused nearly $217,000 in damage, according to 12 News in Florida.

According to the complaint, filed April 8 in federal court, the incident occurred on or about Feb. 1, 2025, while the flight attendant was staying at the Renaissance Hotel Fort Lauderdale for work. The hotel alleges that evidence proves the employee “negligently interfered” with a sprinkler head in the room despite signage warning guests not to tamper with the system…
