Police: 19-year-old Venezuelan migrant arrested for shopping plaza shooting in Margate

MARGATE, Fla. — A 19-year-old Venezuelan migrant was arrested in Hillsborough County and extradited to Broward County to face charges after a shooting earlier this month that terrorized a shopping plaza, records showed.

Detectives accused Joan Ferrer of pulling out a gun and firing and injuring a man — despite the presence of a 10-year-old child — on May 9 in Margate, according to an arrest warrant issued on May 10.
