36 In 35—The Legacy-Proven 477 V

Now listed as a “Legacy Model,” meaning in part that it’s out of Nor-Tech’s regular production rotation, the 477 V was introduced in 2012. The Cape Coral, Fla., was beginning to flesh out its center console line at the time—a company mainstay that continues to grow as witnessed by this year’s introduction of the 42-Eleven model introduced at the Miami International Boat Show in February.

But Nor-Tech’s legacy indeed lies with its big V-bottom sportboats and catamarans. So the legacy label is appropriate for the 47-footer. That the stern-drive engine V-bottom market was in sharp decline when the company unveiled it speaks volumes about the company’s commitment to building products outside the mainstream now and then.

Among the first 477 models built during its introductory year was a fiery twin 725-hp Ilmor engine-powered beauty that went to the late Tracy Nemecek. The Michigander loved the Boyne Thunder Poker Run and was an active member of its organizing committee for years. His 47-foot Nor-Tech became a Boyne Thunder staple.

But Nemecek, who died in 2022, also used the boat on Lake Michigan throughout the boating season.

Tracey Nemecek’s Nor-Tech 477 was powered by twin Ilmor Marine 725 engines.
