Drought conditions continue to improve along the Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The drought monitor was updated Thursday, and it shows a big improvement across most of the Gulf Coast.

A noticeable change is the large swath of moderate drought shaded in tan. That represents yet another category improvement in our drought conditions. The last time we had only a moderate drought in our area was back on Feb. 3.

A few spots on the Gulf Coast still have extreme drought present, including coastal Charlotte County, part of DeSoto County, and a small sliver of Hendry County.

We aren’t out of the woods yet; we still need more rain to continue clearing the drought conditions out of the Gulf Coast.
