Port Charlotte man accused of stealing jewelry from elderly client, selling it to pawn shop

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WWSB) – A Port Charlotte man is accused of stealing jewelry from an older woman who hired him to do kitchen work at her home and then selling the items to a local secondhand dealer, according to a Charlotte County probable-cause affidavit.

Richard E. Foust III, 47, faces charges of dealing in stolen property, grand theft from a person 65 or older involving $300 to $10,000, and making a false verification statement to a secondhand dealer involving more than $300.

The woman reported approximately $9,850 worth of jewelry missing Aug. 9, the affidavit says. She told investigators Foust had been doing kitchen work at her home and had access through a hidden spare key. She also said she would turn off the alarm when she was away…
