PORT CHARLOTTE — A crash being investigated by authorities is slowing down a normally busy stretch of Tamiami Trail, according to Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
“Motorists are advised to avoid southbound Tamiami Trail between Cochran Boulevard and Forrest Nelson Boulevard due to a traffic crash,” CCSO stated in a social media post.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and its aftermath.
CCSO suggested drivers use Edgewater Drive or Veterans Boulevard as detours in the meantime.
“Motorists should expect delays for the next few hours,” the Sheriff’s Office stated at 4:45 p.m.
