A Cookie-Monster-pajama-clad Cape Coral pair who authorities say forcefully removed items from a Lowe’s store over the weekend face new charges.
Jalina Sepulveda, 19, was initially charged with armed robbery and battery, while Charlie Perez, 22, was charged with armed robbery. They remained in custody Monday morning without bond set.
Cape Coral Police announced Wednesday that each also faces four counts of animal cruelty after a search of their home led to the discovery of four mixed-breed French bulldogs neglected in cages with open skin sores, as well as feces and urine all over the home.
Cape Coral Police said the pair around 2 p.m. Sunday entered the Lowe’s store at 1651 N.E. Pine Island Rd., wearing matching Cookie Monster pajamas.

Police said the pair began gathering items, and when they tried to leave the store without paying for those items, they were stopped by loss prevention.
Authorities said Perez revealed a gun in his waistband, and they rushed toward loss prevention, while Sepulveda spat in their faces.
