CAPE CORAL, Florida — A Cape Coral man was arrested for DUI after crashing his vehicle into bushes and falling into a canal, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
On May 3, 2026, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of NE 34th Lane after reports of a man exiting his vehicle and falling into a canal. Witnesses reported seeing the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Jacob Blasses, of Cape Coral, Florida, get out of the car, disappear around the driver’s side, and then hearing a splash.
Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle with front-end damage crashed into bushes and noted fresh slide marks leading down to the canal. A witness described the driver as shirtless and wearing blue shorts. Officers later located Blasses, who matched the description, at the intersection of NE 34th Terrace and NE 20th Avenue.
