Isolated severe storms possible this afternoon

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Sunday is a Gulf Coast Weather Impact Day as storms are expected to develop later today. Pay attention to changing weather conditions starting around 1 p.m. and lasting through at least 8 p.m. Expect the strongest storms and most widespread coverage to start around 4 p.m.

The Storm Prediction Center has parts of the Gulf Coast outlined for an isolated severe storm threat, mainly for the potential for severe wind gusts over 60 mph and small hail.

Heavy rain and frequent lightning will also be embedded with these storms. Any outdoor plans should have an indoor backup plan for this afternoon.

Rain will start along the I-75 corridor before expanding to the east into the evening hours. Rainfall totals will vary, but expect some spots to see over an inch or two of accumulation through tonight…
