FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Bishop Luers High School announced Tuesday that a former student donated a record-breaking $2 million toward the school’s capital campaign.
According to a press release from the school, alumnus John Ward from the Class of 1973 made the generous donation in support of the construction of the school’s new auxiliary gym and Luers Fieldhouse, which was announced back in 2025 as part of the ‘Ignite the Spirit!’ capital campaign.
Mr Ward’s gift includes a $1 million matching challenge in memory of his late brother, Michael Ward, Class of ’87, who died from brain cancer in 2009. The match will focus on the Classes of 1984 through 1990, with the hope of inspiring fellow alumni and community members to donate to the capital campaign…
