Wabash neighbors brace for storm as tornado cleanup continues

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — As storms roll through Northeast Indiana Wednesday night, some communities are still cleaning up after last week’s severe weather.

“As far as my pole building, it’s pretty bad,” said Wabash resident Merrill Bishir. “Everything’s been pretty bad.”

Merrill is retired and lives with his wife Glinda just east of downtown Wabash. He loves living on his seven-acre property with his pond and pole barn steps away from his house.

Thursday night, an EF 1 tornado ripped through Bishir’s backyard. It ripped off his house’s roof, took out his porch, splintered several trees, and put a hole in his pole barn. The wind also broke the Bishirs’ bedroom window. The flying glass cut Glinda Bishir, Merrill’s wife, and she needed to get six stitches…
