FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A debate is underway in Fort Wayne about Flock cameras, which Fort Wayne Police say read license plate numbers and help solve crimes.
The cameras are visible on poles around the city. They are black and include the camera and a solar panel. Fort Wayne has 36 Flock cameras across the city.
One of the Flock cameras sits on a pole right as you enter downtown Fort Wayne. It scans license plates and gathers information about vehicles’ make and model. It can also capture information about other characteristics of your car, such as whether you have a tool rack.
