PHOTOS: Patriotic fire hydrants in Warren signal festival’s crossover with America’s 250th

WARREN, Ind. (WANE) – A beloved annual festival in Huntington County aligns this year with America’s 250th anniversary.

The town of Warren is preparing for the Salamonie Summer Festival, slated for the weekend of July 3-5. While the festival usually lands around the Fourth of July, the date holds extra significance this year as we mark 250 years of our nation’s independence.

Joyce Buzzard, treasurer of the festival committee, delegated 59 festive fire hydrants to be painted. That number also represents the amount of years the Salamonie Summer Festival has under its belt. Residents painted various themed designs such as eagles and flags with a color palette of red, white and blue.
