FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio will stay locked in with heat through the end of the workweek, with a major shift in air quality expected Thursday as Canadian wildfire smoke moves into the region.
The heat index climbed above 100 degrees across much of the area Wednesday, with some locations reaching dangerous levels. Fremont and Hicksville both hit 106, while Hoagland, Garrett and North Webster reached 103 degrees.
The 90s will hold on through Friday, but two big changes are coming — wildfire smoke Thursday and storms by the end of the week.
