WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A woman who filed a lawsuit against Whitley County Consolidated Schools, as well as several school officials, after the death of her son has asked the court to dismiss the claims for all except the boy’s father.
In February 2025, Amanda Mulkey filed a lawsuit, claiming that the school district, its superintendent, a high school assistant principal, and two school resource officers failed to step in while her son was relentlessly bullied. The suit also listed the boy’s father as a defendant.
The lawsuit went on to detail that in 2023, another student brought a gun to Columbia City High School, where Mulkey’s son attended, and gave her son the gun. Shortly after, the boy would use that gun to end his life.
