FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Super Shot will host its last START SMART! vaccination event on Thursday.
As part of the Indiana Department of Health’s campaign to catch students up on required school immunizations, Super Shot will offer a community event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its Hobson Road location. All school-recommended vaccines will be offered during the event. The first 100 children who are vaccinated will receive a full-sized backpack filled with school supplies. Free food and a community resource fair will be available.
“The Start Smart! Campaign is state-wide effort to get students across Indiana up-to-date on their school vaccines before school starts,” Executive Director of Super Shot, Connie Heflin, said. “Super Shot is hosting two vaccine events before the school year starts to help families check this important ‘to-do’ off their list. Students going into kindergarten, sixth grade, and 12th grade are required to receive age-specific immunizations prior to school starting. Our aim is to make back-to-school immunizations convenient and affordable for families and for students to start the school year protected from preventable diseases.”…
