FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has approved the latest request from Google’s Fort Wayne data center developers to fill more wetlands as part of its multi-phase expansion.
The permit request was submitted by Hatchworks LLC, the developers of Google’s data center campus in Fort Wayne, for Phase 3 of the $2 billion data center’s multi-phase expansion.
The permit allows developers to fill 2.13 acres of forested, isolated wetlands to construct three new buildings as part of the data center’s third expansion phase.
Hatchworks LLC said it will purchase 4.26 acres of wetland credits from the Openings Mitigation Bank in Fort Wayne, which works to re-establish diverse habitats and wetlands, to help offset the impacts of filling the two acres…
