FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker posted a video to social media on Wednesday regarding a controversial arrest by the city police department.
The video shows Fort Wayne Police Department officers arresting a man near Barr and Dewald Streets after one officer saw an SUV headed northbound on Lafayette Street with its lights turning on and off, ultimately leaving them off. FWPD says the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it did not stop initially, continuing until it came to an abrupt stop near where the incident occurred.
The driver, identified as 45-year-old Rahiem Kubisty, then got out of vehicle and fled the scene. He’s charged with:
- Resisting law enforcement using a vehicle;
- Operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic offender;
- Resisting law enforcement by fleeing;
- Resisting law enforcement by forcibly resisting; and
- Leaving the scene of an accident.
