Fort Wayne contracts design firm for future downtown plan

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The City of Fort Wayne has employed an East Coast-based design firm to lay out future plans for the downtown area.

On Tuesday, the Fort Wayne City Council approved a $330,605 contract with an urban design and planning firm, Interface Studio, based out of Philadelphia. Out of 13 proposals for the job, Interface Studio was chosen for its experience in designing downtown areas with similar city sizes.

According to a press release from Mayor Sharon Tucker’s office, Fort Wayne’s downtown plan, Blueprint for the Future, was integrated in 2003. The following updates and studies have created more than $1 billion in investment in the downtown area over the course of 22 years…
