Fort Wayne Police Department’s Traffic Unit is stopping fewer people

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Traffic Unit is stopping fewer people compared to this time last year.

The unit was resurrected back in 2024 after the department received constant complaints about drivers speeding, driving recklessly, and disregarding stop signs and traffic lights. In its first five months, the team of four officers stopped well over the 4,046 cars they gave tickets to.

“Our main goal is to slow and deter traffic crime in areas where we have fatal accidents or near fatal accidents,” said Sergeant Shane Pulver with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Traffic Unit…
