DeKalb County couple charged with 45 counts of cruelty to animals

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – New court documents obtained by 21Investigates reveal details in an animal cruelty case against a DeKalb County couple.

Dozens of Australian shepherds taken by authorities from a rural home Monday are now in the care of Humane Fort Wayne.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant Monday at a home on County Road 27 near Ashley. Investigators said the odor “burned your eyes, nose and airways.”

Charges filed against couple

Prosecutors charged Stanley and Angela Gard with 45 counts of cruelty to animals and one count of failure to register as a commercial dog breeder.
