AUBURN, Ind. (WPTA) – A couple accused of animal cruelty appeared before a judge Monday as about a dozen animal advocates showed up at the DeKalb County Courthouse.
Stanley and Angela Gard offered no comment walking into court. They sat in front of the judge one at a time. Both asked for a public defender, and the judge entered not-guilty pleas on their behalf.
Case draws attention from animal advocates
The case has drawn attention from animal advocates across the area. Humane Fort Wayne helped care for most of the Australian Shepherds after investigators served a warrant at the Gards’ rural Ashley home last month.
