FWPD: Man dead after police-action shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A man died Monday after a police-action shooting northwest of downtown Fort Wayne.

Police were dispatched to Howell Street for reports of someone experiencing a mental health crisis. According to Fort Wayne Police Department Chief P.J. Smith, the agency was familiar with the man after responding to his home for similar reports over the last few weeks.

While officers were there, police say, the man pointed his gun out of his door at officers…
