FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A large police presence just northwest of downtown Fort Wayne was due to a mental health crisis, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
According to FWPD, on Monday at 2:14 p.m., officers were called to a house on the 1800 block of Howell Street for reports of a man suffering a mental health crisis who was possibly armed.
FWPD said that they were familiar with the man, as they had responded to three similar incidents at the house in the last several days.
On scene, officers made multiple attempts to cant communicate with him and de-escalate the situation.
