Southlake officers stop forgery in progress

Southlake police announced the arrest of a 60-year-old man who may be connected to multiple cases of forgery and more than two dozen victims.

According to a social media post, someone at a local bank saw suspicious activity and alerted police about a forgery in progress. Officers got to the bank and detained a man “attempting to withdraw $8,000 using fraudulent identification, after learning he had tried to withdraw an additional $12,000 earlier that day in another city nearby.”

The Southlake Department of Public Safety says its investigation uncovered information tied to more than 27 victims as well as other fraud-related materials and narcotics. Police said some of the elderly individuals were among the victims.

The investigation by Southlake officers revealed active warrants from multiple agencies in North Texas and arrest warrants in Ashland County, Ohio, and Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Ultimately, officers arrested 60-year-old Keith Gilbert for Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and multiple outstanding warrants…
