Trinity Metro transit agency is tightening its belt amid economic uncertainty with plans to decrease spending in fiscal year 2027 by more than 8%.
Under the agency’s proposed $204.9 million budget, spending is decreased by $17.8 million compared to the adopted 2026 budget of $222.3 million. However, officials plan to increase its Trinity Railway Express funding by $3.3 million to help pay for a double-track project to improve the passenger train service between Fort Worth and Dallas. That project is also supported by regional and federal funding through partnerships with the Regional Transportation Council, Federal Transit Administration, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and the cities of Fort Worth and Dallas.
