A Tradition Returning After a Weather-Forced Cancellation
This year’s parade marks a comeback for a civic tradition that hit a snag two Decembers ago. In December 2024, the Light the Night Christmas Parade was called off entirely due to severe weather and safety concerns after widespread participant and vendor withdrawals, as Hoodline reported at the time. That cancellation underscored just how much the event depends on cooperative weather and full participant turnout to pull off safely.
The parade’s route has historically started at Brewer Middle School on South Cherry Lane before traveling along White Settlement Road and Las Vegas Trail, then turning onto Clifford Street to reach Veterans Park, according to a route description posted by the City of White Settlement on Facebook. The route spans several of the city’s major thoroughfares, giving residents multiple viewing points along the way before the procession arrives at the park for the tree lighting and market.
Vendor Fees Support the City’s Animal Shelter
