Grapevine police arrest 5 people in connection with $1.6M worth of auto thefts, officials say

GRAPEVINE, Texas — A group of five people stole vehicles worth $1.6 million in a theft ring that spanned the entire Metroplex, Grapevine police said.

Grapevine police officers conducted their investigation over the course of five months, connecting five individuals to the theft ring and recovering large sums of cash and stolen firearms, according to a press release from the Grapevine Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle on Jan. 29, 2026, at the Embassy Suites in Grapevine, the release states. Overnight patrol officers were able to track the vehicle and recover it the same night, police say.
