American caught in the crossfire of shootout in Los Cabos

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — A U.S. citizen was shot and killed after being caught in the crossfire of a shootout Saturday night in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, according to numerous Mexican news outlets.

According to news organizations like El Debate and La Jornada, the shootout between members of the Mexican army and cartel members also left left seven people injured, including two soldiers.

The American who was killed was only described as a 31-year-old from California. The other victims included a child and a 65-year-old woman.

La Jornada reported that soldiers responded to the sounds of gunfire and encountered what was described as a convoy of armed individuals in various vehicles. The gunmen reportedly opened fire once they noticed the army arriving.
