One of the Bay Area’s most popular Mexican American bakeries is taking over the former Shuggie’s restaurant in the Mission. Florecita Panaderia will vacate its shoebox Bryant Street location Aug. 26 and will reopen Sept. 12 at the former Shuggie’s space on 23rd and Bryant.
Owners Ximena and Jared Williams had been looking for a bigger space since January and say they’re thrilled to bring new life to the space Shuggie’s occupied until earlier this month. “We loved the charm of our alleyway bakery,” Ximena says, “but we always knew it was a steppingstone to our next chapter.”
The move will allow the couple to fulfill their dream of serving coffee alongside their seasonal, California-inspired conchas. Their current space, inside the work-live complex the Madelon, is permitted as a cottage business, making a cafe setup impossible…
