A Milpitas resident’s quick call last Wednesday turned a suspicious scene outside an apartment parking garage into a full-blown gun bust, with officers detaining four people and recovering a loaded, unregistered handgun, loaded magazines, ammunition, and a rifle stock. The caller reported people peering into a neighbor’s window, triggering a rapid patrol response. The department later shared video of the encounter on social media, pulling the incident back into public view.
Officers: Rapid response, weapons seized, warrants found
According to the Milpitas Police Department, officers reached the scene in about 2 minutes and 12 seconds and found four people near the apartment parking garage. One person took off running, and at least one individual was seen handing a black bag to another while ammunition reportedly spilled from someone’s pockets.
Officers detained the group and recovered a loaded, unregistered handgun, multiple loaded magazines, ammunition, and a rifle stock. Two of the four were booked on outstanding warrants, resisting arrest, and weapons-related violations, according to the department’s account. The video of the encounter, posted more than a week after the original call, was shared on Monday and renewed attention on the case.
