A group of Palo Alto High School parents are suing the school district over a student field trip to a mosque last fall.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court Aug. 8, alleges that students in the school’s Social Justice Pathway were provided Qurans, girls were encouraged to wear hijabs and all were exposed to the idea that Islam was aligned with social justice work.
The suit was brought by a group called the Plaintiff Community Members for Religious Neutrality in Public Schools, which includes two Jewish parents of Palo Alto High students, three former Jewish students, a Hindu parent and another Zoroastrian.
