Quiet San Jose Block Rocked by Deadly Driveway Shooting

An adult man was found unconscious with at least one gunshot wound in the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Summerside Drive last Saturday, according to San José police. Officers say he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The suspect had already fled the area before officers arrived, and the department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the case.

In a post on X, the San José Police Department said the shooting occurred at about 12:54 AM in the 1000 block of Summerside Drive. The victim, described only as an adult male, was found in a driveway with at least one gunshot wound. The department identified the case as San José’s ninth homicide of 2026 and confirmed that its Homicide Unit responded to the scene. The X post served as the department’s initial public advisory.
