With a recent increase in fire activity, higher temperatures, lower fuel moisture, and minimal precipitation in the forecast, the extreme threat of wildfire impacting life, property, or natural resources is observable.
“By doing your part and clearing defensible space around your home, you give our offense a fighting chance” said Unit Chief, Chris Trindade, Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit. “Defensible space gives our firefighters the best chance of protecting your home while making it safer to do so.”
Thereby with the authority vested in me by the Director of the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as per section 4423.1 of the Public Resources Code; I hereby suspend, except within the incorporated cities, the privileges of burning by permit and other uses of open fire in the geographic area described as: ALL STATE RESPONSIBILITY AREA LANDS WITHIN MADERA, MARIPOSA AND MERCED COUNTIES…
