A Central Valley woman and her husband have been arrested in Mexico and extradited to California in connection with the 2025 beating death of a Fresno County man.
Investigators with the Clovis Police Department said the victim, 37-year-old Geoffrey Bernardi, was found severely beaten near a canal at Barstow and Peach avenues on Dec. 18, 2025.

“The victim was transported to the hospital after he was severely beaten,” according to a police department news release. “Less than two days later, he passed away [despite] life-saving measures taken both at the scene and the hospital.”
During the investigation, detectives identified 32-year-old Misty Gomez and 40-year-old Antonio Garcia, both Tulare County residents, as suspects in Bernardi’s death. The pair had been communicating, police said, and Gomez, despite being married to Garcia, had also been dating the victim…
