FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Local leaders and faith-based groups are getting involved, following the unexpected arrival of 16 migrants from Venezuela.

We spoke to some migrants who are staying in a local hotel in Fresno, and to a County Supervisor who says this is not the first time migrants have landed in Fresno county.
It was a three-month journey for José Morales, his 10-month-old daughter, wife, and other migrants.
“It is not recommendable to take this quest with a family,” said Morales. “But if you absolutely need to, for them, it is possible.”
Others agreed.
They say they fled from Venezuela because of the government and economic issues.
“You earn four U.S dollars a day,” said migrant Euscar Hernandez. “You can’t even buy a dinner meal for four dollars.”
The weekend before last, 16 Venezuelan migrants were unexpectedly dropped off downtown by a bus from Denver.
At the time Mayor Jerry Dyer said their situation was being assessed.
